About Cara
Healthcare deserves
a better front door.
Cara was built on one conviction: most healthcare organizations are leaving patients, and revenue, at the door. Not because they don’t care. Because the experience between a patient’s first search and their first appointment is held together with workarounds.
So we built the platform, the builder, and the embedded team to fix it. Software and services, built together.
Cara is also a services company on purpose. We employ the engineers and project managers who embed with our customers. Not contractors. Not a six-month consulting engagement that leaves at the end. The same Cara FDE and PM stay on your account for the life of the engagement, fractional or full-time, alongside the platform. That is how the work actually moves.

Every engagement is scoped, delivered, and transferred. The platform is the substrate. The outcome is what we're hired for.
We respect the regulated edge.
HIPAA compliant. Operates to SOC 2 Type II controls. BAA by default. The compliance envelope is not something we ask partners to retrofit around us.
We publish what we learn.
The Coding Agent Readiness framework. The Comparative Analysis of EHRs. Our thinking is in the open because it holds up better there.
We're honest about fit.
If the fit is wrong, we say so. Often we refer elsewhere. The model works best when both sides have conviction.

Nils leads Cara’s engineering and platform. Most recently he founded Widal Technologies, an AI-first development agency for patient-facing virtual and hybrid healthcare platforms. Before Widal he founded Vertrical, a digital health software services company helping healthcare operators deploy compliant solutions at scale. Thirty years writing production software.

Seth Staton
Seth runs Cara’s commercial, customer, and partnership work. Most recently Head of Clinical Programs and Innovation at Walgreens. Before that, four years at CareMore Health (Anthem’s Medicare Advantage care delivery arm) as Staff VP of Virtual Care and Senior Director of Product. Also Managing Partner at White Fence Advisors and on Pear VC’s Healthcare Advisory Council. UC Berkeley alum.
